Women’s issues can significantly impact their daily lives and overall well-being
Women’s issues represent a broad scope of mental health concerns and conditions that women may face at some point in their lives. Some are specific to the female experience while others can affect all genders. Regardless, women may experience these concerns differently. Women’s issues can significantly impact their daily lives and overall well-being, and through education and awareness, not only may these issues be better understood by others, but also better understood by the women they are affecting.
There are many issues that women can struggle with at different times in their lives, some of the most common include:
Women issues
-
Depression is a low mood that can last a long time or keep returning, affecting your everyday life. Anxiety is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe. Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life
-
Self-esteem refers to your opinion of yourself. Having Low self-esteem can often lead to anxiety and depression. If you have low self-esteem or confidence, you may hide from social situations, stop trying new things, and avoid challenging things.
-
Post-natal depression is a type of depression that many parents experience after having a baby. It's a common problem, affecting more than 1 in every 10 women within a year of giving birth. It can also affect fathers and partners.
-
There are many types, some of which can take place in childhood and others that a woman may face in her current situation. Domestic violence may be emotional, physical, verbal, or psychological. Some of the most common ways domestic violence presents itself are through name-calling, stalking, violence, humiliation, and manipulation by the abuser. When a woman is in an abusive relationship, she may feel worthless, depressed, isolated or anxious. Women who are in violent or abusive relationships often come to believe that they deserve to be abused or that it’s their fault.

While every woman experiences hormonal changes throughout her life, some women can struggle with these changes and experience both mental and physical difficulties as a result. The most significant hormonal changes that women experience are puberty, pregnancy, the postpartum period, and menopause. Many women struggle with the physical and emotional changes that take place in their bodies during each of these hormonal phases and may experience mood changes that are more drastic than what is considered to be normal. The emotional challenges that occur with hormonal changes leave many women susceptible to anxiety and depression.
These women’s issues can have serious emotional, physical, and mental health effects that run deep. They vary in severity from mild to extreme, and in many cases, women are not able to cope with these issues on their own.
If you are feeling like you simply don’t know where to start, then maybe just starting with where you are right now is a good place. During our therapy journey together, we will spend time talking, feeling and exploring creatively and imaginatively, slowly, sensitively and at your own pace. To support you with coming to terms with your unique issues, help you to get to know who you are as a woman and how you can move forwards with more health and vitality.
Sessions can be open-ended, or a fixed number of sessions, you can, of course, decide as we go. All sessions are tailor-made to support your individual needs. Ideally face to face but we can offer online if that works better for you. You will also have the option of joining one of our monthly women’s groups online, places are booked directly through Creatrix as these groups run according to numbers and availability. Group sessions can be a deeply healing and beneficial experience for many women to share and connect.
I would like to highlight that this is a Counselling service we are therefore unable to prescribe any medications or give a clinical diagnosis. If you are struggling with any women’s issues or need any further support in this area, other than talking therapies, always seek the guidance and support of your healthcare practitioner/GP.
